How To Customize Post Text For Each Social Profile

Changes to Facebook Groups Publishing

Facebook unexpectedly decided to remove Groups API access, preventing any third-party tools, including SmarterQueue, from interacting with your Facebook Groups. After April 22nd, 2024, SmarterQueue will no longer be able to publish directly to groups you manage. You can still schedule posts for these groups, but will receive email notifications for easy manual posting instead. You may also wish to consider transitioning to a Facebook Page for better engagement.

You may talk to your audience on Facebook differently than your audience on Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, or Instagram. By editing the Post Text for each social platform, you can customize each message to appropriately address your following.

How To Customize Your Post Text For A Single Profile

Inside your Post Editor, if you’re editing an existing post, or creating a new post for just one Profile, you’ll see only one text field, with the Social Profile's name inside the text box.

You’ll be able to add @mentions and #hashtags from this box, depending on the social platform you’re writing for:

How To Customize Your Post Text For Multiple Profiles

If you’re creating or editing a new post inside the Post Editor and have multiple Profiles selected, you’ll see some tabs above the text box:

  • Start writing your Post Text in the “Original” tab, and it will be used across all selected profiles
  • You can then click on each Profile’s tab to customize the text for that specific Profile

💡 A pencil icon will appear above any tabs that have been customised

  • If you then edit the text in the “Original” tab once again, it will update the text in all profiles except those you’ve customized (marked with a pencil icon)
  • You’ll be able to see your customized text in the Post Previews in the right-hand pane next to the Post Editor

Note: You can’t lookup @mentions or #hashtags while writing in the “Original” tab. This is because SmarterQueue won’t know on which platform to lookup any mentions you add. You'll have to edit the specific text for each profile to search for @mentions and #hashtags.
