Changes to Facebook Groups Publishing

Facebook unexpectedly decided to remove Groups API access, preventing any third-party tools, including SmarterQueue, from interacting with your Facebook Groups. After April 22nd, 2024, SmarterQueue will no longer be able to publish directly to groups you manage. You can still schedule posts for these groups, but will receive email notifications for easy manual posting instead. You may also wish to consider transitioning to a Facebook Page for better engagement.

How To Connect A New Profile

  • Navigate to the Profiles page on your SmarterQueue dashboard 

  • Make sure you’re logged into the Social Profile you’d like to connect inside your browser, then simply click on the "Connect" button for the type of social profile you're adding to SmarterQueue

  • Follow the on-screen prompts, and make sure to allow all permissions, if asked.

How To Connect A Facebook Page

  • Make sure you’re logged in to Facebook as an admin of the Page, then simply click on the "Connect" button for Facebook and select "Connect a Page". 
  • Click on "Edit access" to ensure all necessary permissions are granted.

  • Make sure all toggles are enabled to grant full permissions and avoid errors in using your Pages with SmarterQueue (granular permissions can cause issues using your Facebook Page with SmarterQueue due to Facebook API issues).

  • Scroll back up and click "X" from the top right.

  • Then click "Continue as" to be redirected back to SmarterQueue.

  • Select the Pages you want to connect to SmarterQueue

Note: For any subsequent Pages you add, you will see a screen confirming that you've previously granted permissions, including a link if you want to edit the permissions you have granted, and then you will select the Page(s) you want to add to SmarterQueue.

How To Connect A Facebook Group

  • Make sure you’re logged in to Facebook as an admin of the Group, then simply click on the "Connect" button for Facebook and select "Connect a Group". 
  • Click "Continue as" to move forward with the Facebook user you're logged into, and then click "Continue" to grant all permissions.

While there is an option to "choose what you allow," please ensure that you don’t remove any permissions since granting granular permissions can cause issues.

  • Select the Group(s) you want to connect to SmarterQueue

  • Click "Edit Group Settings" to be taken to your Group settings on Facebook to add the "SmarterQueue" app to your Group's apps.

How To Connect A Personal Instagram Profile

  • Make sure you’re logged in to the correct profile on Instagram, then simply click on the "Connect" button for Instagram.
  • Scroll down to ensure permission toggles are enabled, then click "Allow".

Note: Personal Instagram Profiles will show a generic profile image - this is normal. If you'd like the profile picture to populate and to see more in-depth analytics for your Instagram Profile, then you'll need to convert your Personal Profile to a Business Profile and connect it via a Facebook Page.

How To Connect A Business/Creator Instagram Profile

  • Make sure you're logged into the Business/Creator Profile on Instagram, then simply click on the "Connect" button for Instagram.
  • Scroll down to ensure permission toggles are enabled, then click "Allow".

  • You'll be asked if you want to take also enable direct publishing at this stage. We recommend that you do so by clicking "Continue".

  • To directly publish to Business/Creator Profiles, they'll need to be connected "Via Facebook". Make sure that your profile is connected to Facebook Page natively and click "Let's Do It!"

  • Click "Continue As" to grant Meta permissions for the Instagram profile and the connected Facebook Page.

How To Connect A LinkedIn Profile

As long as you're logged in to the LinkedIn Profile natively, pressing on the "Connect" button for LinkedIn, followed by "Connect a Profile" will add it right away. 

If not, you will be redirected to LinkedIn and asked to enter your credentials in order to add the LinkedIn profile to SmarterQueue. 

How To Connect A LinkedIn Company Page

Company Pages can be connected through a LinkedIn Profile that is Admin for the page.

As long as you're logged in to the Admin LinkedIn Profile natively, pressing on the "Connect" button for LinkedIn, followed by "Connect a Company" will add it right away. 

If not, you will be redirected to LinkedIn and asked to enter your credentials in order to add the LinkedIn profile to SmarterQueue. 

How To Connect A TikTok Profile

  • Make sure you’re logged in to the correct profile on TikTok, then simply click on the "Connect" button for TikTok.
  • Click "Continue", in order to give SmarterQueue permission to connect to the profile (please make sure to keep all permission toggles enabled).

How To Connect An X(Twitter) Profile

  • Make sure you’re logged in to the correct profile on X(Twitter), then simply click on the "Connect" button for X(Twitter).
  • Click "Authorize App", in order to give SmarterQueue permission to connect to the profile.

How To Connect A Pinterest Profile

  • Make sure you’re logged in to the correct profile on Pinterest, then simply click on the "Connect" button for Pinterest.
  • Click "Give Access", in order to give SmarterQueue permission to connect to the profile.

How To Connect A Google Business Profile

  • Make sure you’re logged into the Google account that manages the Google Business profile(s) you’d like to connect inside your browser, then simply click on the "Connect" button for '"Google".   
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to select your Google account, and make sure to allow all permissions, if asked.

  • Select the profile(s) you want to add to SmarterQueue from the list and press 'Add'.

How To Connect A Bitly Account

  • Make sure you’re logged in to your Bitly account in your browser, then click click on the "Connect" button for Bitly.
  • Click "Allow" on the next screen to give SmarterQueue connection access. 

Great work! Your new Profiles are ready to use. All you need to do now is assign Categories and add Timeslots for your new Profiles. 

If you want to, you can copy your existing posts to any new Profile as well.

What Happens When You Add A New Profile

Congratulations on getting a new profile added! 🎉

After logging in and adding the profile you will be given the following options:

  • Use Default Timeslots: By selecting this option, we'll automatically create some templated times during the week for your posts to publish đź’Ş 
  • Add Timeslots Manually: By selecting this option, you'll be directed to the Posting Plan where you can then manually schedule what days and times of the week you'd like to post to this Profile by creating the relevant Timeslots


How To Remove An Existing Profile

  • Navigate to the Profiles page on your SmarterQueue dashboard 

  • Click the vertical three-dot button for the Profile you want to remove

Note: When you remove a profile, you will lose all posts for that Profile, as well as their analytics. Remove profiles with care!

  • Click Remove Profile
  • In the dialogue box that appears, click the red button Remove to confirm


How To Remove A Users Token From Facebook

Facebook Pages and Groups don't have their own sets of credentials. Instead, you add them to SmarterQueue by using the credentials of a Facebook Profile that is Admin for the Pages/Groups you are adding. 

Once a set of credentials (of a specific Facebook Profile) is used and you've granted relevant permissions, all the Pages, and Groups for which the Profile is Admin will be displayed in a list so that you can choose the ones you want to add to SmarterQueue.        

In the future, every time you select to add a new Page or Group the list will contain all available ones, based on the sets of credentials you've entered in the past and the permissions you've granted SmarterQueue. This will happen even if they belong to someone that is no longer on your team.

If you no longer want to see Facebook Pages or Groups that are available via a Profile belonging to someone that's left your team, please ask the old team member to remove the SmarterQueue app from their Facebook account.

In order to remove the SmarterQueue app from your Facebook follow these steps:

1. On the Facebook website, navigate to "Settings & privacy" while acting as your Facebook Profile.

2. Then continue to "Settings" > "Business Integrations".

3. Once you've reached "Business Integrations", find the SmarterQueue App and click on the "Remove" button.


Common Questions

I got a blank screen after clicking “Add Facebook Page.” What happened?

If you are trying to add or reconnect a Facebook Page, some users have reported seeing a blank screen after clicking 'Add Facebook Page'.

This is a result of having a certain filter list running in AdBlockPlus. 

You must disable that filter list and then try to add the Facebook page again.

Can I use the same Social Profile with two different SmarterQueue accounts?

SmarterQueue has been designed to allow social profiles to be added to one SmarterQueue account at a time. 

This is mostly because we allow you to login to your SmarterQueue account from your social profiles

Because of that, anyone with access to that social profile would have access to your SmarterQueue account.

How do I switch one Profile to another? 

If you are under your plan limit for profiles, you can add your new profile without deleting anything. 

However, if you’re at your plan profile limit, you will need to remove the profile you want to replace by following the steps above before connecting your new profile. 

In this instance, we recommend upgrading.

Can I recover my posts from a deleted Profile?

If necessary, we can usually recover everything from any deleted profile (profile connection, posts, Timeslots, etc).

Why isn't the profile picture showing for my Instagram account? 

If the profile picture isn't showing for your Instagram account, this means that it is a Personal Instagram Profile and thus shows a generic image. If you'd like the profile picture to populate and to see more in-depth analytics for your Instagram Profile, then you'll need to convert your Personal Profile to a Business Profile and connect it via a Facebook Page. đź’Ş
